The 2104 GSM field trip will take place in the Bethel, Maine area on July 19 and 20.

Lodging
We have selected a campground that will reserve a group site or grouped individual sites for us http://www.betheloutdooradventure.com/. This place also has a lot of outdoor activities available in case spouses or children don’t want to look at rocks all day (I know, it’s hard to imagine). Camping is $7/night per person. Please let Chris Morrell (cmorrell@rwg-a.com) know of your camping intentions (# of people and nights) by June 2nd. Prepayment is not required but reservations are.

There also are many motels, inns, and lodges in the area, but be aware that Bethel is celebrating Molly Ockett Day that weekend and there is a professional road rally occurring in the area as well, so you should make reservations soon.  An internet search for ‘Bethel Maine lodging’ will bring up a number of choices.

Saturday Dinner
Dinner will take place at the campground under a tent and will consist of gourmet BBQ and side dishes provided by a caterer who is also a licensed land surveyor (you never know…). The tentative menu consists of Ribs, Pulled Chicken, Jalapeno Poppers, Beans, Coleslaw and Cornbread. The Jalapeno Poppers are something to be experienced! There will be a few hotdogs and burgers for kids. Bring your own drinks.

GSM will subsidize the cost so adults will pay $15 and children $10. Prepayment is required by June 14th! Send a check (or cash) made out to GSM to Bruce Hunter (GSM Treasurer), 44 Old Fairgrounds Rd., Readfield, ME 04355.

More information on the field trip agenda will be provided soon. Hope to see you there!
